About Hareth Raddawi, M.D.

Dr. Raddawi has been serving his patients for over 25 years. A lifelong desire to help others led Dr. Raddawi to complete his medical degree at Damascus University in Syria, continuing on to more advanced training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital.

After completing his training at University of Illinois, Dr. Raddawi decided to advance further in the gastroenterological field, and completed subspecialized training in pancreatic and biliary disorders. He received advanced training in ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholaniopancreatography) at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Raddawi went on to advance and pioneer a variety of pancreatic and biliary procedures at Advocate Christ Medical Center, and is considered amongst the most experienced local experts in biliary and pancreatic disorders. He served a two year term as a member of the Standards of practice committee of the American Society of GI Endoscopy (ASGE).

A motivation to positively impact others’ lives has been Dr. Raddawi’s inspiration for most of his career. “I firmly believe that the healing profession is the most noble of all professions simply because it enables the healer to have such an impact on another human being’s life and well-being, ” he says. “I always strive to render the same level of care and compassion that I expect my own family to receive.”

For Dr. Raddawi, making an impact on others goes beyond his patients to other areas of medicine as well. He is on the teaching faculty of 2 Chicago area medical schools, and has climbed the academic ladder to become a full Clinical Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. He feels it’s incredibly gratifying to teach medical students and residents and makes one a physician of a higher caliber as well. But most importantly, it’s part of giving back to society and his community.

Outside of the office, Dr. Raddawi has 2 wonderful children, a son and a daughter. He also enjoys philately, or stamp collecting.

Reviews

I highly recommend Dr. Raddawi and his team. They are kind and supportive. They explain the procedure to you, and ask if you have any questions. Dr. Raddawi comes and talk to you before the procedure. He is so calm and understanding, you can’t help to be nothing but calm.

A great Gi doctor... after being in sooo much pain for nearly four months...Dr. Raddawi was the only doctor to give me a diagnosis for more than ibs. It had been almost three years and all of my tricks are not working...so I am seeing Dr. Raddawi again! I am happy to have an knowledgeable GI physician!
