History of GI Alliance of Illinois

As early as 1978, our gastroenterology practices have been serving patients with GI conditions across Illinois. A unique vision to deliver excellent patient care, strive for continual quality improvements and outcomes, and provide the most up-to-date treatments attracted the best gastroenterologists in Illinois to form Illinois Gastroenterology Group over 10 years ago. From there, that vision grew into the development of the GI Alliance in 2019. GI Alliance (GIA) is the leading independent gastroenterology practice in the U.S. operating in over 14 states. GIA is a partnership of premier gastroenterology groups across the nation, representing a great heritage of superior gastroenterology care focused on the goal of providing superb patient care and improving the lives of patients with GI conditions.

The GI Alliance of Illinois is comprised of over 70 top-rated board-certified GI physicians. Medical professionals and patients alike trust the gastroenterology expertise of our GI Alliance of Illinois providers. GIA of Illinois, formerly known as Illinois Gastroenterology Group (IGG), was formed in 2010 through the merger of Elgin Gastroenterology, Lake Shore Gastroenterology, and Northwest Gastroenterologists. Midwest Center for Digestive Health joined IGG in 2011, Gastrointestinal Health Associates of Geneva joined in 2013, and North Shore Gastroenterology joined in 2014. Our History Over the Years

  • Northwest Gastroenterologists (NWG) a founding member of IGG, has been the premier digestive health practice in the northwest suburbs of Chicago for over 40 years. Our board-certified physicians provide personalized, state-of-the-art care for a comprehensive range of gastrointestinal and liver disorders, including an on-site AAAHC accredited endoscopy center, infusion services, and interventional procedures.
  • Lake Shore Gastroenterology is a group of board-certified gastroenterologists, physicians specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases. As one of the founding members of Illinois Gastroenterology Group (IGG), they have been providing quality patient care in Lake and Cook County for more than 40 years.
  • Elgin Gastroenterology, a founding member of IGG, has been serving patients in the Fox Valley Region since 1978. Our team of Board-Certified Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and staff are committed to providing specialized care for digestive health through prevention, treatment, chronic care management, and surveillance.
  • Digestive Disease Consultants has served the patients and their referring physicians in the Central Illinois area with the highest quality in state-of-the-art care for digestive and liver disorders.
  • Gastrointestinal Health Associates has cared for patients in St Charles with the tenets of having a commitment to lifelong learning and remaining current on the advancement of medicine, a precedence for the highest standard of professionalism and a resolution to treat all patients with the utmost respect and compassion and to guard their right of confidentiality.

  • Midwest Center for Digestive Health (MCDH) joined IGG in 2011 after being recognized as one of the premier digestive health practices in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago and provides patients with individualized care, and state-of-the art gastroenterology services that are unrivaled in the state.
  • North Shore Gastroenterology is a specialized gastroenterology practice serving the northern Chicago suburbs and North Shore community. Partnering with several hospitals in the area and offering services at The Glen Endoscopy Center, a specialty endoscopy center. This practice is known for providing a high level of gastroenterological care using the latest and safest technologies available.
  • South Suburban Gastroenterology has provided excellent GI care to the Chicago Southland for over 40 years. Our service area extends from Frankfort to Northwest Indiana with our main office in Homewood.
