About Matthew Weiss, M.D.
Dr. Matthew Weiss is Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Weiss treats all general GI issues, with a special focus on esophageal dysmotility, dysphagia, eosinophilic esophagitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and alcohol related liver disease. He was involved in multiple subspecialty clinics throughout training in fellowship at the University of Wisconsin in all of these specialty areas.
Dr. Weiss chose to specialize in gastroenterology because the gut plays such a huge role in a person's overall quality of life. In treating gastrointestinal disorders, he strives to make each patient's day-to-day life as enjoyable as possible.
Dr. Weiss likes to take a personal approach with each patient. Each treatment approach should be tailored to the individual, with the patient taking an active role in their care. When leaving the office, he hopes he has provided the patient with confidence that they have made the right treatment choice that is best for them.
Dr. Weiss attended Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine for his medical degree and completed his Medical Residency and Medical Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Weiss enjoys spending time with his wife, two young children, and dog. He grew up in Woodridge, IL, and is a big Chicago Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Bears fan. As an alumnus of the University of Kentucky, he will always cheer on UK basketball. He also enjoys hiking, golfing, and recreational sports.
