Dr. Patel has been in practice since 2017. He honed his expertise while treating the diverse patient population at the John H Stroger Hospital in Chicago before moving into private practice. He is especially experienced in advanced liver disease, GERD, and inflammatory bowel disease, but is well versed in all fields of gastroenterology. Dr. Patel’s top priority is to provide the highest level of care that is up-to-date and evidence-based for every patient. He emphasizes patient education and values establishing a long-lasting partnership with patients, based on respect, trust, and open communication.
“I was drawn to gastroenterology because it was one of the few medical specialties that combines my two primary interests: hands-on procedures and internal medicine. Gastroenterology provides me with the opportunity to perform challenging and complex endoscopic procedures while also treating the vast array of gastroenterological issues that are one of the most common sources of chronic pain and distress in adults, and I enjoy working with patients to find solutions to relieve and treat discomfort in their daily lives.”

I was very pleased with the office staff and Dr. Patel. I was treated with much respect.
Dr. Patel saw me at my time of appointment. He has a fresh, bright presence. He came in immediately engaging me in the appointment as this was a follow-up visit. I expressed how things were going since he gave me some probiotics at our last appointment. He explained how I should be feeling now, and since I was stabilized, my future appointment were scheduled months away. He assured me if I needed an appointment to be called. Dr. Patel made me feel connected and easy to talk with.
I' feel comfortable with Dr Patel ,cool,explained everything, I trust him,wouldn't go 2 any other Gastroenterologist,staff's nice 2!

The procedure went well, Dr. Amit is great, the stuff was very friendly, however the communication could improve, to start you need to call my number, and not a number that isn't been used in the last 20 years, I do update my personal info every visit.

I am providing a 4 star rating because of the failure in the office staff to be useful in assisting Dr. Patel in ensuring the patients quality of care.
Dr. Patel wrote an order for a medical study however the office refused to email it to me or post it my portal page so that I could get this study completed. The office staff kept insisting that I didn’t need the order and to just show up at any hospital and they can find the order by cross referencing my name and Dr. Patel’s name. Funny I said I have never heard of that and so did the two different hospitals I went too. After a month and a half of arguing with the office staff I sent Dr. Patel an email requesting that we move forward and skip the study. Dr. Patel apologized for the office staff, and we moved forward.
The GI alliance has a central call system which is not very conducive to being able to reach the same person who you spoke with in the office so every staff member you speak with has to access your file and review what is going on with your case to understand what you are talking about and things get missed because there is no accountability. One staff member mumbled their name and when asked to repeat their name refused and then put me on hold for 45 minutes … dr Patel is good but the gi alliance staff not so much

Dr Patel listened very intently to me and offered many possibilities as to why I was having the symptoms that I was having. He scheduled a number of tests to get to the root of the problem. I really appreciated the time he spent with me. It was also easy to get an appointment date that was reasonable and his staff was very polite and courteous. I recommend Dr. Patel highly.
